Duquesne can win a share of the NEC Title (and secure the automatic playoff berth) this weekend in this scenario... I'm confused here - GoDuquesne has linked to the Barnes and Noble driven gear store for years. Wide selection of branded gear of all kinds. The new link is below and I expect the online selection/inventory to grow as the transition nears completion. Congratulations on your win. Despite what the local BYU "expert" proclaimed - I knew the dukes had a punchers chance here. They defend incredibly well and BYU runs their whole offense out of shooting the 3. Congrats Duquesne, from Bona Nation!!! We know the exhilaration you must feel after all these years as we were in those same shoes not too long ago!!! I predict you guys will be one of the "Cinderellas" with a few days to rest and your dynamic duo at guard getting the rest they need! Your defense is the best I've seen in ages in the A-10 Conference! God bless Coach Dambrot and the resilience of your team!! Good luck in the Big Dance!! 'Hope you get a good draw!! CoachSBU One of the great all time wins. I almost can’t believe it. Let’s keep the faith. I’ll be at the Van Brahm if anybody asks🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 Dusted off the old login in just to celebrate with all of you - infrequent poster, big reader. What a win! That was such BS it made me reset my password just to come on here and say so. And these announcers? Holy smokes are they poor. Regarding EW, team, etc. I think Dambrot's first comment in the PSN article about the summer progression is telling in that regard... The video attached to this tweet shows more and you can see what they mean by the "elevated u". I like it, especially the brighter blue alternates Players can declare for the draft and explore where they may land without giving up their eligibility. Obi Toppin is doing this. Underclassmen can do this with the NFL draft as well. You can explore, get an assessment, not hire an agent, and if you aren't thrilled with the results - then you come back to school, play, get better, and try again. Does this damper planning in recruiting/off-season planning? Probably - but I doubt it is that big of an impact/surprise. After reading this thread, I have a few thoughts... The VBC sounds amazing but was not around during my time there. Though I did live on Van Braam (42 Van Braam, one block towards blvd of the allies from Forbes). EW couldnt hit a barn last night let alone the basket. I think it was the shoes. This is an assumption but it is probably a recruitment tool. Majority of these kids/recruits are big sneaker heads. Allowing for unique shoes to showcase their individual style is an easy recruiting win - pair that with the exclusive Lebron/Nike deal and it strengthens Duquesne's position. When you're coming from the position we are for recruits, you throw everything you can at them. Wow - overreaction Saturday. It was a bad game against a rival. This team will still win more than they won last year. Which will put us close to 20 wins. Year 3 will be even better. And year 4. This coach and administration has done nothing to make me think otherwise. Was curious about the quality of players after the 3 points and a board stat referenced...so I went to do some quick digging...Here are the top 100 players according to ESPN that have declared sans agent How nice is it to get an under recruited kid that turns out to play well above their perceived level and not have to worry about them transferring for greener pastures once the season is over? Perhaps it is just me - but it felt like every time we got our hands on a quality player there was an ever present threat of them looking to thrive elsewhere. Williams sneaks in the double double Best play of the game, for me, is when at about a minute left we got a steal and a fast break...Williams is sitting there with 8 points...has an opportunity to drive to the hoop and try to get the double double...instead he drives, passes to the corner, another pass, then a drive and easy layup for Rene I believe. It has been echoed throughout the board but I would to also say that the handling thus far is the right thing to do. Immediately off the team, do not make an announcement or statement, let it be handled by the proper authorities. I commend the leadership. Tonight the Dukes posted to their Instagram account that players and coaches are delivering tickets to the homes of season ticket buyers. I think this is a great way to do some grassroots stuff to endear yourself to a fanbase. I saw this earlier today and wanted to make sure it was posted it - glad to see it up. I love this from the President - walking the walk! Thanks for sharing - really looking forward to this season. I live in Charlotte and may make the 3 hour 20 minute drive to Lynchburg for the game against Liberty. I agree with other posters that I really don't know what to expect from a W/L standpoint - the soft non-con helps quite a bit...but with so much transition and so much "new" I'm not going to feel too bad if we fall below .500. A recent article about Swingle's commitment mentioned the renovations... i saw that and wanted to post but thought it was too speculative. i couldn't find where he might've gotten his info from and couldn't tell for sure if he knew we were playing mizzou or if he wishes we were playing mizzou. He's from st Louis could just be that. Was thinking that myself - especially since it appears he is home after finals (based on the location of the tweet). I didn't see it anywhere else in a thread - my apologies if this has been addressed... 1 2 Jump to

- Duquesne beats Wagner
- RMU Beats CConn
In this scenario - Dukes could lose to CConn in the last weekend and RMU wins their last game - they would have the same conf. record, with Duquesne owning the H2H tiebreaker.
Of course, the easiest thing to do is just win the rest and leave nothing to chance...

I'm not sure BYU really wanted to be there. We got robbed by the committee not putting us at the 4 seed in Salt Lake. It put a really dark cloud over the team and guys just weren't motivated.
One of our players has been fasting for religious reasons too so he was at like 25 or 50%. Some of the calls by the refs made no sense and favored one team.
This was fun banter between fan bases. Now you’re just bitter and making excuses.
Your team wanted to play. All teams do.
That changed after the Dukes went out into a 7-0 lead and your offense couldn’t get into it.
And come on. Fouls were 18 for BYU and 17 for dukes. You shot one more free throw.
and that’s including the 4 fouls and 8 shots in the last fifty seconds to ice yinz and send you and Cosmo back to Provo with a tail

BYU rarely looked comfortable - especially out of the gate.
The Dukes controlled most of that game (They didn't have a lead for 1:10)
Duquesne was more physical.
The Dukes won with Jimmy shooting poorly.
Go Dukes! What a ride

Simply because another year of experience for all? Maybe. But most would agree KD is very deliberate in his responses. Perhaps this is the acknowledgment of an anchor that we only saw surface through suspension, poor body language throughout the year, and ultimately a transfer request.

I don't understand how one could be "disgusted" with someone exploring an opportunity to make a lot of good money. Were you disgusted by Mark Zuckerburg for leaving school early to pursue a lucrative opportunity? Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? It's the same idea.
The transfers are a bit of an issue - but again, there is a mechanism in place to curtail that - the 1 year sitting out disincentive. Also, something like 45% of undergrad transfers go down a level, very few transfer up.
If Eric Williams didn't transfer, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Let's reframe it. Dambrot has an ability to find overlooked talent and develop them to a point where they can join a talented P5 team - and play meaningful minutes. Extrapolate that a few years and the players like Williams are staying because of the culture and winning ways of the program. Men's Basketball » Facts on our Transfers » 4/12/2019 11:46 am
1. The average isn't a proper metric for evaluation because the data is most likely skewed. Median is probably a better fit. I have not been able to find that metric.
2. The NCAA states that 40% of basketball players transfer before the end of their sophomore year - we aren't an outlier.
3. 30% of all basketball players transfer at some point during their career - we aren't an outlier
4. I'm surprised some of you are able to post after the complete and utter shock and dismay from Duquesne not winning the national championship this year.
5. Dambrot has been on the bluff a hair over 24 months. On the whole, I've seen progress and development. Yes, losing EW hurts, get over it. It is not an indication of a crumbling system. Men's Basketball » What can be controlled » 3/27/2019 12:33 pm

The biggest surprise of the season is the absence of Mike Lewis. If he played this year like he did the last 2....well, Duquesne could very well be undefeated.

Just looking at those classified as a frosh...
Zhaire Smith Tex Tech 11.3/5
Jontay Porter Mizzou 9.9/6.8
PJ Washington Kentucky 10.8/5.7
Kris Wilkes UCLA 13.7/4.9
Lindell Wigginton Iowa St. 16.7/3.7 Kostas Antetokounmpo Dayton 5.2/2.9 (but powerful name brand)Austin Wiley Auburn 8.8/4.7
Eric Williams Jr. 14.8/8.75
E Dub has comparable stats - but I don't think he has physically developed...or competed against the same level of competition as the others on the list. Wouldn't be insanity for him to test the waters...but it would be a bad move to do it this early in my opinion.

That's unselfish play from a freshman who I'm sure was told if he gets a double double tonight would have 5 of them in his first 9 games - tying Bruce Atkins (cheers to goduquesne.com mentioning this in the last few game previews). That selfless attitude probably resides in Williams as he seems like a good kid - but there is also a TON of coaching there. He did it earlier as well, opting to pass when he had an easy shoot for someone who had an even higher percentage shot.
I'm very happy to see he was rewarded with an open slam to get the stats he needs.

If this is the effort for fall sports - I am very excited to see what may be in store for the "flagship" sport.
I echo the thoughts of Simms - while we were on campus we had more of a chance seeing Pres. George W. Bush roaming A Walk than Pres. Dougherty. I feel we are in quite good hands. Duquesne Football » Dukes picked #1 for NEC Champs and FCS playoff qualifier by Athlon » 7/29/2017 9:40 am

What I want to see is improvement on the defensive side of the ball and a team that gets coached up in the last 5 minutes of close games (I guess you could count this as an expectation...which is really an indictment of what we have seen over the last few years). Oh, and when my girlfriend and I watch a game - I don't want to hear her comment "are you kidding? I could break that zone". It's the little things this year.

The campus is beautiful and the city of Pittsburgh is amazing. Duquesne is doing $50 million of renovations just to the basketball facilities. They are extremely passionate about basketball and I wanted to be a part of that.”
I doubt we are selling the renovations to recruits if they won't be able to experience them. If I had to guess 17-18 Palumbo / Swingle's Senior year in High School
